Every day, on all our campuses, research is taking place. Students, faculty, post-doctoral scholars and staff are navigating from classrooms to labs testing, examining and sorting data. They are making their way to archives and libraries scrutinizing, investigating and pondering questions. They are stepping onto stages and putting their creativity and training into practice.
I get the chance to represent Memorial in a lot of different spaces. Wherever I find myself — in a board meeting, at a conference, giving a talk to international students or having coffee with a colleague from another university — I’m always pleased to tell the Memorial story of how our innovators, artists, scholars and scientists are helping make a positive impact here at home and abroad. People are genuinely interested in learning about what goes on at Memorial and why our research matters.
There’s no shortage of inspiration and ideas taking place this week at Memorial University. Today, our annual Research Week celebrations begin. It’s the perfect time to celebrate our very own innovators and problem-solvers, those individuals who support and lead Memorial’s diverse research activities, and to cheer on our emerging scholars. You can see what’s on the go here. Nearly 75 events are taking place on our campuses.
