1 Introduction Melasma is a frequently observed chronic skin hyperpigmentation requiring continued management and photoprotection throughout the year [1]. It presents with symmetrically disposed brown macules and patches, mainly in women between 20 and 50 years of age, individuals with Fitzpatrick's phototypes III–V, and subjects from multiple and mixed ethnicities [1, 2]. Even though not life-threatening, melasma impacts the subjects' quality of life (QoL) [3].
