Tanner Brown’s Biography

American reporter and columnist writing on Chinese politics and economics at Barron's and MarketWatch. Have published more than 1,000 articles for Dow Jones since 2019.

Previously was founder and director of Caixin Global's breaking news division. Have written and edited longer-form journalism at Caixin on China's business, political and social topics.

Co-founded the Caixin-Sinica Business Brief podcast, with host Kaiser Kuo, and produced 112 episodes.

Chinese speaker.

Also served as Product Director during Caixin Global's 2016 relaunch as an independent entity (affiliated with but distinct from Caixin's Chinese outlet) and oversaw implementation of a successful paywall and subscription model.

Before that was managing editor overseeing 20 writers and editors at an academic publisher in Los Angeles, and was a culture reporter for a weekly magazine during college.
