The Soup Nazi is Coming to Israel to Paricipate in Street Food Festival

Al Yaganeh, the real-life inspiration behind Seinfeld's infamous “Soup Nazi” character known today as The Original Soup Man, is coming to Israel to participate in a three-day food festival in June, which will be held across the country. Originally from Iran, Yaganeh opened his first restaurant, Soup Kitchen International, in Manhattan in 1984. He has since opened several franchises in Canada and the US, including four in Manhattan.

Birthright Israel Will Pass the 500,000 Participant Mark this Year

The Taglit-Birthright Israel program said that it is on track to surpass 500,000 participants over time during its 15th year of existence, which begins in May. From May to September alone this year, Birthright projects that it will see 28,000 participants on its free 10-day trips to Israel for Jews ages 18-26. “Prior to the inception of Taglit-Birthright Israel, only 1,500 young American Jewish adults visited Israel each year,” Birthright CEO Gidi Mark said in a statement.
