Letters to a City: Four Love Notes to Marseille
Between Two Shores by Taous Dahmani In Marseille there’s a ritual: after work, you head to the beach, crack open a beer and watch the sun sink into the Mediterranean. It’s easy to fall in love with the city during that golden hour, when the sky burns pink and orange and the waves shimmer and sparkle. The evening light glances off cargo ships – reminders of Marseille’s long history as a trading hub – and the ferry that links France to its North African neighbours: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia.
Akram Zaatari's infinite frames
Posted in Feature, Dazed MENA issue 01 Akram Zaatari embodies the very idea of an iconophile, a word stemming from the Greek eikṓn (image) and philos (loving), quite literally meaning “lover of images”. Over the years, his fascination with both still and moving images led him from looking with inquisitive eyes to creating his own photographs with passion and dedication and eventually collecting those of others with care and subversion.

Taous Dahmani Art Historian, Writer & Curator @taous_r_dahmani I have selected these six young artists/photographers — You Liang, Matilda Baxendale-Kirby, Amber Gent, Heather S.
In the studio with Noémie Goudal
Goudal’s work sits at a juncture between fiction and reality. Imagined scenes and scientific evidence attach and detach to coincide with the photographer’s intent and artistic gesture. The studio is at the centre of the unexplored landscapes, and it is here that images of tropical forests are reproduced, manipulated, deconstructed and multiplied. Goudal questions assumptions about the world, and highlights what we do not know about its dizzying movements and rhythm.
