Tema Smith is a diversity advocate, writer and Jewish community builder. She is currently the Director of Professional Development at InterfaithFamily an organization that empowers people in interfaith relationships to engage in Jewish life and make Jewish choices, and encourages Jewish communities to welcome them. This comes after seven years as a synagogue professional, most recently as the Director of Community Engagement at Holy Blossom Temple, Toronto’s oldest synagogue.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

My iPad, my laptop, my library of books, a notebook and my Pilot Dr. Grip ergonomic pen, Microsoft Word, Microsoft OneNote, and Twitter.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter! Despite it's reputation, it's allowed me to have really great in depth conversations, cultivate relationships, and build community.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I won the Toronto Star High School Newspaper Award for best paper as editor-in-chief of the Jarvis Jargon (2002), and as a columnist (2000).
