Nursing has always been a practice profession. While textbooks and classroom instruction provide the scientific foundation, clinical competence develops through experience, deliberate practice, reflection, and feedback. The challenge for nursing education has always been how to provide sufficient clinical experience and maintain patient safety, ensure consistency, and prepare learners for increasingly complex healthcare environments.

Healthcare simulation has evolved far beyond static manikins and isolated procedural trainers. Today’s learners expect immersive clinical environments that mirror the equipment, workflows, and cognitive demands encountered in actual healthcare settings. As simulation programs increasingly emphasize systems thinking, clinical judgment, and team-based care, the realism of the learning environment becomes just as important as the fidelity of the patient simulator.

Artificial intelligence continues to reshape healthcare, education, and workforce development. On June 2, 2026, the White House issued a new Executive Order titled “Promoting Advanced Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Security,” establishing a federal strategy to advance American AI innovation while strengthening cybersecurity and protecting critical infrastructure.
