Hisbah Board has prohibited the sharing of pre-wedding photos of the daughter of Emir of Kano Zahrah Bayero, saying it is a sin. Pre-wedding photos showing exposed shoulders of Ms Zahrah have elicited much criticism for Hisbah, a religious police known for sanctioning people for ‘immoral behaviours.’ In an interview with BBC Pidgin, the Kano Commander General of Hisbah, Harun Ibn-Sina, said the Emir’s daughter is not above the law, and failed to set a good example to other Muslims.

The North East Development Commission, as an agency of government, is saddled with the responsibility of leading the socio-economic recovery of states in North-East Nigeria, ravaged by the Boko Haram crisis since 2009. I have followed the activities of the NEDC closely since its inception, and I dare say that the way and manner the leadership has employed the use of Information and Communication Technology in carrying out its operations is indeed phenomenal.

I haven’t written in a while for personal reasons. But I came out of my self-imposed sabbatical after reading a piece titled “In the Valley of a Hounding Death: Corps Members and The Alluvion of Mishaps” and written by Ogungbile Emmanuel Oludotun. In the piece, I was confronted with the effort of a young man trying to tell a story on a subject he was not conversant with.
