Terry Ballard
Terry Ballard’s Biography
I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. For the first 24 years of my working life, I was a paraprofessional at the Phoenix Public Library. Then, in 1990, I got my library degree from the University of Arizona and pursued a career in academic libraries in the northeast. I was a systems librarian at Adelphi University, NYU, Quinnipiac University, The New York Law School and the College of New Rochelle. Since 1989 I wrote for a series of library publications, including Library Journal, American Libraries, Wilson Library Bulletin, and Information Today. This led to an opportunity to write three books about library automation. A year ago I found out to my surprise and delight that a number of my scholarly articles are tracked by Web of Science. In my work at Quinnipiac, I was sent to Ireland 4 times to work on Irish history projects. This later led to a page Irish History Digitized. I am currently retired, but still write regularly for Information Today. As a retiree, I keep active as a photographer for Flickr and Yelp, and I maintain several dozen web sites.
