Biden says he's most pro-union president ever. But his policies hurt striking UAW workers. Original
The historic United Auto Workers strike against the Big Three automakers shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. It is no wonder that UAW members are nervous about their future. To start, they have a president who claims to be the most pro-union in history but has implemented policies that hurt workers’ paychecks and will lead to the loss of thousands of auto manufacturing jobs. Under their current contract, UAW members’ pay has risen by 6% since 2019.

Michigan must choose top-down or bottom-up
This article originally appeared in Crain’s Detroit Business March 13, 2023. The choice between a top-down or bottom-up economic approach is becoming clear as Lansing politicians prepare for two important debates. Legislative Democrats are considering a bill to repeal the state's right-to-work law, while also supporting plans backed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to use billions in state funds to subsidize a handful of rich corporations.
Repealing Right-to-Work is a bad deal for Michigan autoworkers
This article originally appeared in Bridge Michigan February 2, 2023. Ten years. I remember December 11, 2012 very clearly. That was the day I and thousands of other union workers in Michigan rejoiced at the passage of Michigan’s workplace fairness law – also called Right-to-Work. The law went into effect in March 2013, and any union contract afterward banned the practice of forcing workers to pay money to a union or be fired. For ten years, we enjoyed our workplace freedom.
CHOUGULE & BOWMAN: The Democrats’ Latest Target In Their War On The Return Of Manufacturing
Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer spent mid-January on a European trade mission, participating in a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum on the “Return of Manufacturing.” Back home in the Great Lakes State, her legislative allies were launching with her tacit approval a national effort to drive off manufacturing jobs – and the blue-collar men and women who work them – far, far away.
Executive overreach needs to stop
We are well past the point at which ham-fisted efforts to bludgeon the coronavirus into submission are doing more harm than good. One day soon, there will be a widely-available and effective vaccine for COVID-19. When that day comes, be it next month or next year, we will be able to look back dispassionately on our experience during the coronavirus pandemic and judge for ourselves what we did right, what we did wrong, and what we could have done better.
In Michigan, Biden the globalist is trying to run as a Trumpian America Firster
When Joe Biden came to Michigan last week, he decided to campaign as Donald Trump instead of himself. It was rather pathetic, and laughable to Michigan voters. Cherry picking figures from the devastation wrought by the coronavirus pandemic, Biden ignored both President Trump’s record of delivering on his promises to Michigan’s workers and the extraordinary “v-shaped” recovery he has presided over these last few months.
Michigan's economic recovery is taking shape, despite COVID-19 pandemic
With the “v-shaped” economic recovery taking shape nationwide, Michigan has begun to bounce back from the artificial COVID-19 downturn sooner than most of us dared to hope. Despite excessive stay-at-home orders, Michigan regained more than 250,000 jobs in May, reducing the unemployment rate by a record-setting 2.8 percentage points.
Biden Would Be a Disaster for Michigan
Michigan can and will recover from the devastating COVID-19 pandemic — but not if Joe Biden wins the presidential election this November. The former vice president’s radical policy platform is destined to sabotage America’s second economic comeback, dooming the Great Lakes State to a bleak future of perpetual economic stagnation.
