Skipper Hill’s century leads Leicestershire to record chase against Somerset
Put into bat, Somerset’s Sam Young and Eddie Byrom were dismissed cheaply again, and James Hildreth was unable to produce his usual fireworks. The in-form Lewis Goldsworthy was stumped off a good piece of bowling by Rehan Ahmed, and opening batsmen Steve Davies nicked off despite being set on 61. At 104/5, Somerset were in trouble. George Bartlett, whose List A average for this summer stood at 8, and George Thomas, a 17-year old making his List A debut, had a lot to do.
Briggs and Miles give Warwickshire hope on Day 2 at Edgbaston
It was seemingly business as usual for Simon Harmer and Essex on Day 2 at Edgbaston, as an excellent collective effort by the visitors put them in control of the game. The 9th wicket partnership of Danny Briggs and Craig Miles, however, saw out the remaining 27.5 overs of the day and reduced the first innings deficit to 52 runs. Still, Simon Harmer’s exploits should not be ignored.

SSCC Preview: Derbyshire v Glamorgan
Derbyshire sees the return of First Class Cricket on Sunday as Glamorgan make the journey to the East Midlands. Both sides are yet to taste defeat – Derbyshire with an opening match win over Durham and a draw against Gloucestershire, and Glamorgan with draws against Gloucestershire and Northants. Those results see the sides lying fourth and ninth respectively in the table separated by eight points, which shows a win could change the complexion of the table quite quickly.
Warwickshire Chief Executive Neil Snowball Talks to Deep Extra Cover
DEC: Can we start by taking a look back at what happened on the pitch in 2018? Neil: On the pitch, the number one priority was to get back to Division One of the Championship. We did that in the right way. There was a lot of hard work, right from the moment when, pre-season, we put a marquee up in the nets area and the guys were slogging away when there was snow outside. Having worked hard through the winter, they hit the ground running and played good, hard four-day cricket.

2018 Season Preview: Warwickshire
For five years from 2012, the Edgbaston-based team, full of experienced and skilled performers, swam high with the tide, winning all three domestic titles in that time. Then, in 2017, the tide went out and the ageing team were collectively revealed, metaphorically speaking, with their swimming trunks round their ankles. It was not a pretty sight. Relegation from Division One of the Specsavers County Championship was bad enough. What made it worse was that it came by the humbling margin of 61 points.

Alex Gidman: Tough times ahead following forced retirement from county cricket
The recently-retired Alex Gidman gives DEC an exclusive insight into the life of a man post-cricket, having played for Gloucestershire and Worcestershire in a county career lasting 14 years. I recall sitting in a dressing room, probably 11/12 years ago thinking that ‘that day would never come’. That day being the day I retire from cricket. Like all sportsmen or women I felt indestructible and that, like Peter Pan, I would never get old. Time flies. It literally has gone in the blink of an eye.
