1 Introduction Argatroban, a direct thrombin inhibitor, has been widely used for blood extracorporeal circulation, acute ischemic stroke, and chronic limb-threatening ischemia. It has been adapted for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and the prevention of thrombosis in heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT). Activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) is the preferred method for monitoring the effectiveness of argatroban in the prophylaxis or treatment of thrombosis in patients with HIT.
