Acute Ethanol Challenge Differentially Regulates Expression of Growth Factors and miRNA Expression Profile of Whole Tissue of the Dorsal Hippocampus
Introduction Alcohol exposure leads to rapid alterations in neuroimmune gene expression in the CNS (Doremus-Fitzwater and Deak, 2022). In acute exposure conditions, ethanol acts as a potent neuroimmune stimulus which mobilizes HMGB1 and potentially other ligands of toll like receptor (TLR) 4 and downstream activation of several immune signaling pathways such as NFκB and MAPK (Fernandez-Lizarbe et al., 2009; Pascual et al., 2015; Montesinos et al., 2018).
