After neighbor complaints, SFMTA to remove recently installed traffic
The Alamo Square Neighborhood Association recently announced the removal of a traffic circle at McAllister and Steiner streets, which had been installed this spring. San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency spokesperson Erica Kato confirmed the removal via email. Kato explained that an evaluation suggested the intersection is working acceptably, but that the agency fielded concerns from neighbors, especially about vehicles honking and not always knowing who had the right of way.

Supervisors vote yes on Trader Joe's Hayes Valley location, but final
On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors voted to allow grocery chain Trader Joe's to open in the ground-floor space of a new condo building at 555 Fulton St. (at Laguna), the Chronicle reports. As we previously reported, the grocer was facing a significant hurdle — Hayes Valley's formula retail ban, which bars businesses with 11 or more worldwide locations from opening in the neighborhood. However, the Supervisors are allowed to award dispensations to certain businesses on a case-by-case basis.

Despite a pandemic and an economic downturn in which some local governments are bending over backwards to accommodate a struggling restaurant industry, the City of Oakland did not make this easy for Horn. Hoodline previously reported that Horn Barbecue was slated for a Sept.

When Muni's light rail trains returned on August 22, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency closed a half-block of Church Street (between 15th and Market streets) to car. The intent of the closure was to allow riders to maintain a social distance while getting on and off trains at the last stop of the modified J-Church line.
