England's two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, which has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has been rescheduled for January next year, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) chief executive Ashley de Silva has said. England were scheduled to play Tests in Galle and Colombo in March before the coronavirus outbreak shut down sport worldwide as countries introduced lockdown measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

Sri Lanka put on a clinical performance with bat and ball to record a 122-run win in the third and final one-day international and complete a clean sweep over Bangladesh in Colombo on Wednesday. Former captain Angelo Mathews led Sri Lanka with 87 off 90 balls, guiding the side to 294-8 before Dasun Shanaka backed his 30 off 14 with three wickets for 27 runs to complete the rout.

Sri Lankan photojournalist Tharaka Basnayaka won the ' Best Photojournalist of the Year 2018' award during the The 20th edition of the Journalism Awards for Excellence program on Tuesday 10 December 2019 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Described as the Sri Lankan equivalent of the Pulitzer, the Excellence in Journalism Awards is the most prestigious annual program for journalists, which recognizes outstanding work and rewards those deserving merit. The aim of the program is to recognize professionalism in the print media of Sri Lanka and reward excellence over a particular year.

Gold Medal - 2015 International Salon of Reporter Photography (LifePressPhoto) Ukraine

2015 - Photojournalism

Sri Lankan Photojournalist, Tharaka Basnayaka won a Gold Medal (Daily Life) at the 2015 International Salon of Reporter Photography (LifePressPhoto) Ukraine, organized by the Ukrainian Center for Photographic Art and ‘Ostrog Academy’ of Ukraine National University. Tharaka also won a Diploma under the Sports Section. The purpose of the exhibition is popularization of documentary photography and strengthening its importance in today’s world and to emphasis the importance of preservation of its authenticity and truthfulness of, educational role.
