Introduction Cirrhosis represents a significant global health burden, with increasing prevalence driven by metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and alcohol-related liver disease (1, 2). Despite advances in management, hospitalized patients with cirrhosis face substantial morbidity and mortality, with intensive care unit (ICU) admission rates ranging from 20–40% and ICU mortality ranging from 34 to 72% and in-hospital mortality up to 80% in decompensated disease (3, 4).
