Over the years Spider-Man media has juggled a disjointed relationship with cinema. From the highs of the Raimi trilogy to the forgettable lows of Sony’s disastrous outings, of which were tastefully abbreviated to SPUMC. For every acclaimed win, another pitiful attempt followed. The Disney-Sony partnership, a relationship heavily tested at the best of times, appears to be the root of fans’ frustration.

Mortal Kombat’s (2021) adventure from console to cinema was met with lurid disappointment amongst fans of the video game series. Unable to capture the famous brawling magic or intense rivalries and alongside shoddy, cringe-inducing dialogue, the release was marked as one the worst video game adaptations of recent memory.

In 2015 ‘Daredevil’ premiered on Netflix, a street-level superhero series in Hell’s Kitchen following the blind full-time lawyer and part-time vigilante, Matt Murdock, an individual with heightened senses. The series was critically acclaimed and lauded by fans, but to the dismay of many, abruptly ended after a stellar third season when Netflix’s rights to the Marvel character ran out.
