Chronic infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) remains a significant global public health burden [1]. Long-term suppression of viral replication with potent nucleos(t)ide analogues (NAs) has markedly reduced disease progression and the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma [2, 3]. However, NA therapy rarely achieves the ideal endpoint of functional cure (HBsAg loss), and indefinite treatment presents challenges related to cost, adherence, and long-term safety [2, 3].
