Theophilus Abbah is the Programme Director of Daily Trust Foundation. An award-winning investigative journalist, Abbah began his journalism career in 1996 at The Punch newspaper upon graduation from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He was the Editor of Daily Trust on Sunday from April 2008 to March 2016, when he was promoted to the position of Managing Editor of Daily Trust. The eyes of my centenarian father-in-law always sparked with excitement, his heart warm with happiness every time I travelled from Abuja to our village and walked into his serene premises. Not because I took a lorryload of material gifts or showered him with Naira notes. Rather, it was because each visit enabled him to give me neither gold nor silver gifts.
