The AI credibility gap is real
Lately, I’ve seen a specific pattern emerge as organizations make AI claims. “We’re AI-first.” “We’re AI-native.” “We’re agentic.” The language is confident, forward-looking, and nearly universal. The results are generally not. Last year, MIT found that billions of dollars in enterprise GenAI pilots yielded nothing measurable. Gartner predicts more than 40% of agentic AI projects will be canceled by the end of 2027, and a recent Gallup survey showed that just 13% of U.S. employees use AI daily.
UPMC Cardiologist: Why Your Heart Might Thank You for Extending Dry January
As January ended, many people who participated in Dry January began to consider returning to their usual drinking habits. This pause from alcohol often highlights how closely drinking habits are tied to heart and vascular health. While Dry January is commonly viewed as a short-term reset after the holidays, extending it or significantly reducing alcohol intake long term, can offer meaningful benefits for the heart.
Has anyone heard of a company called NOMAD
NOMAD wants to rent my house with a Master Lease where they pay me the rent and then sublet to occupants who pay them. They offer a $10K repair fund to fix damages in addition to SD plus warranty for appliance repair etc. I have no say in whom they choose to move in, whether there are animals, limit on # of occupants etc. they reserve right to inspect property so i have no idea if they can tell me to remodel, paint etc. does this make sense i have a vacancy coming up in October (bad rental timing).

Organizational intelligence is the new priority in the AI era
In recent conversations with customers and peers, I’m not hearing “Which AI model or tool should we pick?” I’m hearing “How do we operationalize AI across our critical workflows?” People are starting to understand real digital transformation doesn’t come from a bolt-on solution. It happens when we treat AI as a foundational force and an engine for lasting change. The shift toward an AI-powered workplace requires leaders to enable organizational intelligence across the enterprise.

How The Athletic reports on sexual abuse
Immediately after Canadian national skiing coach Bertrand Charest was arrested in 2015 for sexually abusing team members throughout the 1990s, Charest’s victims started getting calls from the media. “There was a publicity ban on our names; media still tried to find us,” says former Olympic skier Allison Forsyth, who says she was sexually abused by Bertrand over two years. In 2017, Charest was found guilty on 37 charges of sexually abusing young athletes he coached in the 1990s.
Are Offshore Investment Funds the Way to Beat the Third-Generation Curse in Asia?
By: Maggie Kwok, Head of the Funds and Regulatory Group in Asia at law firm Harneys The fear of missing out Some say wealth may pay, but it may not stay. But is it really just wealth preservation that occupies the minds of those who have built up and maintained wealth? For most family offices, the investment perspective has changed over the years. Lifestyle protection for the current and next few generations is, in many cases, well covered and is therefore no longer a concern.

Dal basketball star follows mom’s steps to greatness
To say Dalhousie basketball star Malcolm Christie was born to be a great athlete would be an understatement. Christie’s mother was an Atlantic University Sport (AUS) MVP in hoops at the University of New Brunswick and Christie’s father was a former volleyball player at St. Francis Xavier University. The 6-5 guard has achieved immense success in basketball and he says his mom had a huge impact on him as a player and person.
‘Systemic’ lack of support for domestic-violence victims, study says
Nova Scotia’s healthcare system lacks support for survivors of violence against women with more than half of surveyed workers revealing they knew little to nothing about how to care for them, a study indicates. More than three-quarters of Nova Scotia healthcare professionals told researchers they received minimal training to respond to domestic or sexual violence, according to the Interprovincial Violence Against Women (IPV) Project.
Experts say fossil fuel advertising bill won’t address root issue
Federal legislation that would prohibit misleading fossil fuel advertising does not address the root issue – our dependence on gasoline consumption, say two experts. Anya Waite, scientific director of the Transforming Climate Action program, says even honest advertising sidesteps a reality that “we use fossil fuels because we are essentially addicted to them.” Waite said what’s needed is clear messaging about the harms of fossil fuels so that people can’t “duck and dive” from the issue.

Boarding will become more streamlined when new electronic machines begin operating on Halifax Transit buses and ferries in a few weeks. Marc Santilli, Halifax Transit‘s technical services manager, expects the installation of all validators to be complete by the end of March. ER workers say they’re ‘overwhelmed’ and ‘distressed’
Peter Hičo, paramedic for the Capital District Health Authority, was feeling extreme “moral fatigue” while working a shift at Mobile Outreach Street Health on Feb. 13. Hičo said a person with a significant spinal condition left the emergency department after waiting six hours. “I just don’t have space for them. I don’t have time for them,” he said, of similar situations.
UPMC Physician: Movement at the Heart of Health
Thanks to the convenience of technology and our modern lifestyles, people in the U.S. are more inactive than ever. Whether we’re sitting behind desks, hunched over laptops all day for work, or lounging around binging our favorite shows, Americans simply aren’t as physically active as we used to be — and that’s a problem. According to the American Heart Association, only about one in five adults and teens gets enough exercise to maintain good health.
Romance reading event wasn’t for the faint of heart
“Hot dudes and puffy shirts. That’s what I love,” said Michelle Helliwell, author of the Scandalous Spinster series, on writing her romance books. Helliwell was one of the authors celebrated at The Carleton bar in downtown Halifax with the inaugural Nova Swoons, an event that had celebrities read novels from Atlantic romance authors. With Valentine’s Day approaching, the Writers Federation of Nova Scotia hosted the event to celebrate something many Nova Scotians love — local romance writing.

Veganism no longer ‘out in left field’
When Jessie Doyle first sold kale chips at the farmers market in 2011, she had to put bouquets of kale on the table to show people what the chips were made of. “People thought it was seaweed,” she says, recalling how unfamiliar the term plant-based diet was at the time.

Data the key to solve public-private dilemma in health care, forum hears
Doctors and community health members told an audience at a forum to discuss health-care delivery Thursday that more data is needed to properly understand the issues within our system. In response to a question from an audience member who asked how to ensure that new health initiatives are properly measured for their impact on equality, Sharon Davis-Murdoch, head of the Health Association of African Canadians, was blunt. “I don’t know,” said Davis-Murdoch.
Federal change to work hours is in international students’ interest, says influencer
The federal government’s move to restrict the number of hours international students can work is tolerable — and even may be beneficial — says one student and a social media influencer. International students, whose work-hour restrictions were lifted in the past year, might have worked too much to study properly, said Max Medyk, an immigration influencer.

UPMC Physician: Having a Sweet Tooth Can Affect Your Heart Health

Sugar occurs naturally in all foods that contain carbohydrates, such as fruits and vegetables, grains, and dairy. Consuming whole foods that contain natural sugar is okay because our body is digesting these whole foods slowly and the sugar provides our cells with the energy they need.

Dutch King’s “Apology” for Colonial Slavery Is an Erasure of History
On July 1, Emancipation Day, Dutch King Willem-Alexander apologized for the nation’s history of colonial slavery in both the East and the West. The apology is monumental, especially for descendants of the enslaved living in the Netherlands, who have fought hard for this recognition and who continue to face serious systemic racism across Dutch institutions, from education, to housing, to the job market and law enforcement. “The horrific legacy of slavery remains with us today.

Rob Burton - what were you thinking? Op-Ed
While reading about Premier Ford’s $6 million fundraiser in the Toronto Star the other day, I got to the part where it described the attendees at the $1,500 a-plate dinner when the name of Oakville’s Mayor popped right out, and I dropped the paper. I was horrified and spent the day wondering why. I wondered why he was there, and I wondered why I was horrified.

Will Ontario Liberal stop promising more of the same?
Analysts will pick away at last week’s election for months and eventually historians will do the picking. We will read what the pundits write, nod up and down or side to side and maybe have something to say ourselves. But I am not thinking about the election right now. An old cliche in Canadian politics says that when a party takes a really severe trouncing at the polls it has been ‘banished to the wilderness’. To appreciate everything that this means I think you really have to be there.

Will the US have a 2028 presidential election?
Canada is up against it, literally and figuratively. Waves of domestic anger and fear are rolling up from the US, pouring over our border, and recent polls suggest that we may be reacting to it. While growing political polarization in the United States has triggered a not-quite bloodless civil war, Canadians have quietly moved in the opposite direction. Maybe it is our pragmatism, and we recognize that American culture has impacted our own, and we are defending against it.
Autocracy: not just some other country’s problem
The 21st century has proven problematic for democracy around the world. The last decade has seen a steady deterioration of democratic governance in Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America. According to the recently released fifth annual Democracy Report “Autocratization Turns Viral” written by the University of Gothenburg V-Dem Institute, 68% of the world’s population lives under an autocratic governmental system.
Disinformation: an existential threat to democratic ideals
According to the Washington Post, Donald Trump made 30, 573 “false or misleading claims” as president. During Trump’s four years in office, lying became normalized as an integral part of a larger political dilemma: the creation and spread of disinformation as a political strategy. As access to social media platforms become ubiquitous, a preponderance of disinformation is being generated and spread by Facebook, Twitter, and You Tube.
