The Lake Chad region is highly vulnerable to accelerating climate change, which increases risks of erratic weather events and less predictable seasonal weather patterns. This, in turn, has negative impacts on livelihoods that depend on natural resources and rains. A large share of the population of the Lake Chad region relies on livelihoods that are dependent on natural resources such as rainfed agriculture, fisheries and pastures.

NUPI co-hosts two events during the first-ever Peacebuilding Week in NYC

The inaugural UN Peacebuilding Week is taking place in New York, 22–26 June. NUPI co-hosts two events during the week. Here we have compiled a range of NUPI's publications and activities on peacebuilding. NON-VIOLENCE: The sculpture "Non-Violence" by Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd stands on a platform near the public entrance of the United Nations complex. The sculpture is a large replica of a .45 calibre revolver with a twisted barrel, to symbolise peace and non-violence.
