Wilderness Mum by Kate Barron
'A truly inspiring story of courage, resilience and the call of the wild. Wilderness Mum is a testament to the extraordinary things we are capable of' – Tim Peake Most people believe the wild years end when motherhood begins. For me, that’s when they truly started. For years, Kate Barron lived a conventional life as a dedicated teacher in London – but her spirit longed for wilder horizons.
Scouting for Space: Inspiring the Next Generation of Explorers
By Tim Peake, Astronaut and Scouts Ambassador Most of us know that Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the Moon (and was also a Scout by the way). Fewer people know that it took the combined effort of over 400,000 people to put him and his fellow astronauts there. Space, above all else, is a team game. It’s only because of mathematicians, physicists, engineers, technicians and countless others, that we’re able to do the incredible things we do. We rely on each other.

We can collaborate in space, so why not save Earth together too? It’s our children’s future at stake
Children take part in a global youth climate strike in Bristol ahead of Cop26 (PA) Waking up on the International Space Station gives you a different view of the world – in more ways than one. With that blue oasis of life glowing 250 miles below you, it makes you appreciate not only how special our planet is, but how fragile it is too. Apart from those of us lucky enough to visit the ISS, Earth is the only home we have.
How I Spend It: astronaut Tim Peake on motorcycling
When I was a kid I had a poster of a Honda 500cc motorbike that I just thought was the coolest thing.
Limitless: The Autobiography
From the #1 bestselling author of Hello, is this Planet Earth? and Ask an Astronaut __________________ 'What surprised me was how entirely serene I felt. I was weightless, no forces exerting themselves on my body. To my left was the Space Station. Below me, gradually going into shadow, was the Earth.
Tim Peake's Advice for Living in Isolation
Astronaut Tim Peake knows a thing or two about coping in isolated environments, so who better than the author of Ask an Astronaut and the upcoming memoir Limitless to offer some guidance on how to deal with the privations of lockdown? Tim Peake’s lockdown haircut in space. Astronauts attend to their own self-care on the International Space Station.

Tales of the Space Explorers
What, exactly, do we want from astronauts? Heroism? Inspiration? Cosmic visions? (Did you see God up there?) Do we prefer them to be icons or ordinary folks—the better to imagine ourselves exploring the heavens alongside them? More than half a century into the space age, the answer is All of the Above. But some of the luster has faded from a business that once seemed impossibly daring and futuristic.
The Best Science Books of Fall and Winter 2017 - Unbound Worlds
I’ve actually been lucky enough to read an early copy of Endurance, Scott Kelly’s chronicle of the year he spent on the International Space Station, and I can tell you that this book is simply breathtaking. Kelly expertly explores the beauty and wonder of spending a year on the ISS, but he isn’t afraid to be frank about its mundanity. There are real frustrations to being an astronaut, not the least of which is being away from your family for an entire year.

Tim Peake's Principia blog
The run went better than expected. I thought I'd stick to a steady 7.5 mph, but when I got to 10 miles I realised that my legs were feeling OK but my shoulders were beginning to hurt, so I needed to finish the run quicker than planned and running faster doesn't seem to hurt the shoulders any more – in fact I think the longer stride made it less painful on the shoulders. So I went to 8 mph for 10 miles and then for the last 6.2 miles went to 8.6 mph.
Space-to-ground remote
I have always been fascinated by remote-controlled vehicles. Like many kids I looked in amazement at remote-controlled cars and boats in the park and was eager to have a go whenever I could. As a young teenager I loved building, flight-testing and all–too-often crashing my radio-controlled aircraft.
Heading outside
access_time 14/01/2016 Tomorrow Tim and I are going on our EVA. We have been preparing for this specific spacewalk for weeks in space, and months before that on Earth. However, to undertake an EVA actually takes several years of training.
watch it live (Wired UK)
Tim Peake will make history on Friday as he becomes the first British citizen to go into actual space; the astronaut will complete his inaugural spacewalk. The former army helicopter pilot will leave the cramped confines the International Space Station (ISS) at 12.55pm GMT, in order to complete some DYI. Alongside American astronaut Tim Kopra, the Brit will leave the space capsule to fix a power supply and lay essential cables.
Tim Peake boards the International Space Station: watch live
Astronaut Tim Peake has docked with the International Space Station (ISS) on the second approach as astronauts were forced to manually control the Soyuz spacecraft. The first British astronaut to visit the global space station successfully left Earth in the Soyuz TM-19M craft at 11.03AM and orbited the Earth with fellow astronauts Tim Kopra and Russian commander Yuri Malenchenko four times before meeting with the ISS.
