Abstract Fungal specialized metabolites are known for their potent biological activities, among which tropolone sesquiterpenoids (TS) stand out for their diverse bioactivities. Here, we report bioactive effects of the recently discovered TS compounds 4-hydroxyxenovulene B and 4-dihydroxy norpycnidione, and the structurally related 4-hydroxy norxenovulene B and xenovulene B.

Abstract Fungal specialized metabolites are known for their potent biological activities, and among them, tropolone sesquiterpenoids (TS) stand out for their diverse bioactive properties. Here, we explored the bioactivity of the novel TS compounds 4-hydroxyxenovulene B and 4-dehydroxy norpycnidione, along with the structurally related compounds 4-hydroxy norxenovulene B and xenovulene B, and compared them to the well-established TS compounds eupenifeldin and pycnidione.
