INTRODUCTION Chronic dietary exposure of monarch larvae to clothianidin-contaminated milkweed plants may result in mortality of the larvae at the prepupal stage (Bargar et al., 2020; Krishnan, Zhang, et al., 2021). Larvae that die at the prepupal stage successfully form a silk pad and hang from the cremaster.
