In a nationwide population-based study, we found that patients who received periodontal treatment had a lower risk of pneumonia than the comparison group.

It also empowers health promotion and disease prevention and favours health equity. This approach involves various domains such as risk assessment, oral health evaluation, preventive intervention, communication and education, and interprofessional collaborative practice.
