1 BACKGROUND Musculoskeletal (MSK) disease represents the second most common cause of years of disability worldwide, impacting 20.3 million people in the United Kingdom (UK) (Global Burden of Disease Collaborative Network, 2020; Sebbag et al., 2019), accounting for 30% of general practice consultations (Skills for Health, 2018). Over the last 10 years, health policy in the UK has recognised and responded to the increased demand and shortage of supply of General Practitioners (GP) in primary care.
