GEICO SportsNite: Giants' locker room leader
At the beginning of my career, too many years ago, I was covering the Niagara Falls Rapids, then a short-season, Single A affiliate of baseball's Detroit Tigers. Larry Parrish was the manager at the time. And he was, to say the least, intense. I still remember one otherwise forgettable game that ended in heart-breaking fashion somehow. The details of the game are blurry. But after the game, the media swarm (me and one other guy) approached Parrish in the dugout to ask him our usual questions.

Giants' road to Super Bowl LI goes through Lambeau Field
The New York Giants' road to Super Bowl LI begins in Green Bay, the site of two of the greatest triumphs of Eli Manning's career. Their trip to Lambeau Field became official hours after the Giants finished up their 11-5 season with an impressive 19-10 win in Washington on Sunday afternoon. When the Packers (10-6) defeated the Detroit Lions 31-24 Sunday night, they clinched the NFC North title and the No. 4 seed in the NFC.
Giants hopeful Manning, offense will again rise to occasion in playoffs
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The one thing the Giants were absolutely sure about heading into this season was that their offense was going to be outstanding. They threw around words such as "explosive" and "dynamic". They thought their passing game might be the best in the league. Instead, they are mired near the bottom of the league in almost every important offensive category. The explosion they were expecting never happened. But don't try telling the Giants that it never will.
Rodgers-Cromartie named NFC Defensive Player of the Week
Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after intercepting a pair of passes and picking up the second sack of his career in the Giants' 19-10 win over the Redskins on Sunday. He is the first cornerback to win Defensive Player of the Week honors for three different teams (Giants, Broncos, Cardinals) since Deion Sanders. Rodgers-Cromartie leads the Giants with six interceptions, which ties his career high set with the Cardinals in 2009.
Beckham excited to make mark in first postseason
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Few receivers in NFL history have come close to doing what Odell Beckham has done in his first three seasons. But he knows the truth of professional sports: it's the postseason where legends are really made. That's why he's so "excited" and "anxious" for his first career playoff game this Sunday in Green Bay. He's a big-time player who loves the spotlight, and he can't wait to show what he can do on the NFL's big stage.

A look back: Giants top Packers in NFC title game on Jan. 20, 2008
The Giants, who defeated the Packers in Green Bay en route to their last two Super Bowl titles, open the playoffs at Lambeau Field on Sunday at 4:40 p.m. As we await Sunday's game, we'll be taking a look back at those recent victories. First up is the Giants' 23-20 overtime win over the Packers in the NFC Championship game on Jan. 20, 2008... The lingering image of the 2007 NFC championship is the one of Tom Coughlin's bright red face.

Giants hope 'Playoff Eli' will emerge yet again
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- As the Giants' offense struggled through this season and the defense carried the day, there has always been the hope that magically, somehow, the old, dynamic Giants offense would emerge. That hope is built on the idea that there are two Eli Mannings. It's as if the Giants are counting on the fact that now that "Regular Season Eli" is finished, "Playoff Eli" will take over the rest of the way. "I don't know what that means exactly," Manning said Tuesday. "So we will see.
Jenkins' back feels 'great,' ready to go against Rodgers, Packers
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Janoris Jenkins said his injured back feels "great" and he'll be ready to go when the Giants open the playoffs in frigid Green Bay on Sunday. And that's good. Because the Giants (11-5) are going to need him. The Pro Bowl cornerback has, of course, been a huge part of the Giants 10th-ranked defense this season and he will be needed when the Giants try to stop the red-hot Aaron Rodgers.

NFC title game remains target for JPP's return
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Jason Pierre-Paul is "getting better" three weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia and a groin injury, according to Giants coach Ben McAdoo. But he's still not healthy enough to rejoin the Giants at practice. And it appears any shot at a return to action for the defensive end is still several weeks away. Pierre-Paul's timetable for a return remains unchanged, according to several sources familiar with his situation.
Beckham says playing against Norman is no longer an issue
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The last time Odell Beckham, Jr. faced off with his nemesis, Josh Norman, there was an early moment when things looked like they might get out of hand. In the corner of the end zone, Norman picked up Beckham and carried him several feet before dropping him to the ground in front of an official, who didn't throw a flag. Everyone's eyes were suddenly on Beckham. But there was nothing to see.
