Last summer, I wrote a book proposal for a first-time author, who is a woman. As part of the process, we had to do some research to figure out the ideal audience for her memoir, and that turned out to be predominantly women. Amongst the many reasons for this was the fact that three in five Canadian women and four in five American women are avid readers. And this is particularly true for the genre and themes of my client’s book.

And just like that, it’s December. Last night, as I waited for Stripe Support to respond to my query in a chatbox, I noticed that the timestamp read 4:20 pm. Two things immediately came to mind—and neither of them has anything to do with marijuana. One: the chat with Stripe Support needed to end soon because it was time to get my daughter from daycare.
