As longtime Washington Bureau Chief at The Dallas Morning News, directed consistently excellent coverage of issues and players that impact Texas. Produced stories at the White House, in Congress and on the campaign trail that engage and inform, cut through misinformation and hold the powerful to account without fear or favor.

Accolades include the SDX Award for Washington Correspondence and three National Headliner Awards for Best Political Coverage. Senator Ted Cruz learned from my reporting that he’d been a Canadian citizen his entire life.

Elected three times to the White House Correspondents' Association board. For nine years I advocated on behalf of the White House press corps and managed the print pool.
