Border 6 Fire at San Diego-Mexico border burns 1,000 acres

A vegetation fire along California's border with Mexico had grown to roughly 1,000 acres and was at 5% containment in a rural area east of San Diego as of Wednesday morning, June 3. The fire prompted local officials to issue evacuation warnings Tuesday for the remote areas south of Barrett Junction and Engineer Springs. More details on the areas under non-mandatory evacuation warnings were available at Cal Fire's website.

Election results in California's key 48th Congressional District

This story will be updated with results after polls close at 8 p.m. on June 2. A redrawn congressional district that includes Palm Springs and Indian Wells could play a key role in deciding which party controls Congress after the midterms. Several Democrats, as well as a Republican recently endorsed by President Donald Trump, are among those vying for the House seat. With no incumbents running in the new 48th Congressional District, its voters are guaranteed to elect a newcomer to Washington.
