Yes! Our family had one until we got our first computer in 1999.

Social has rapidly shifted how quickly news breaks, but also creates smaller circles that amplify stories, not always for the better

Why did you become a journalist?
I love to write and love technology - it was an easy decision!
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
My secondary school didn't have a newspaper - I did some work experience for the local weekly, though
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't offer to write for free - it devaules your time and effort, and doesn't help you get a foot in the door
When's the best time to pitch you?
From 9am until 12PM, weekdays - but with an embargo and lead time I'm happy with all work hours

rum and coke
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Sat in the garden (while the sun is shining) or on a plane, heading to a press event
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Autocar - I spent four years in motoring and couldn't have asked for a better introduction to that industry. The editorial staff are the best
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That we cover everything tech-related - Stuff's content is varied, but it has always had a consumer focus. Business stories aren't for us
