Ballarat public school staff to protest funding cuts

Ballarat public school staff will rally today, in protest of recent funding cuts. They say $2.4 billion has been cut from public schools, with the state government delaying commitments to fully fund them to 2031. The rally will take place at 4.30pm this afternoon, outside the offices of Wendouree MP Juliana Addison.

The possibility of Ballarat getting a hard rubbish collection trial is gaining momentum. Next month, councilors will view a Hard Rubbish Collection Options Assessment from officers, however what’s to be recommended remains a mystery at this point in time. Cr. Jay Morrison says he thinks it’s a good idea. Councillor not concerned after reports of loose Bridge Mall pavers

A Ballarat councillor says he’s not at all concerned with reports some pavers in the recently revamped Bridge Mall are already coming loose. The City of Ballarat has just spent $23 million on the shopping precinct, including opening it up to one-way traffic. Cr. Jay Morrison says contractors will fix the issue, at no cost to ratepayers.
