Retired Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Fred Lewis, who died two weeks ago at 78, lay in state June 11 in the rotunda of the court. Chief Justice Carlos Muñiz described Lewis’ 20 years on the court as “distinguished and consequential.” “As chief justice, he took proactive steps to ensure that courthouses throughout the state would be accessible to persons with disabilities,” Muiñz said.
