For the most part, that’s exactly what Cecconi did. The Cleveland Guardians’ starter threw 6.0 innings, allowed just four hits, allowed one earned run, issued one walk, and struck out four batters.

Gabriel Arias hasn’t played in a big-league game since the first week of April, when he exited a game early with an injury. Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt admitted a few days after the initial injury that the shortstop would be out for a while. Arias is getting closer to an eventual return. He started a rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus last week, and the early return on his offensive numbers has been strong. In his first three games, he has two hits, including one home run.

When the lights dim and the fire graphics appear on the screens at Citizens Bank Park, that’s the exact feeling the Philadelphia Phillies interim manager, Don Mattingly, likely feels sitting in the dugout right now, because Jhoan Duran has arguably been one of the best closers in all of baseball so far this season.
