My internist recently treated me for musculoskeletal pain and inflammation, and as part of the overall therapy, he prescribed turmeric. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it relieved most of my symptoms. Anti-inflammatory agents such as corticosteroids (Hessen and Akpek, 2014), cyclosporine A (Abidi et al, 2016), and lifitegrast (Radomska-Leśniewska et al, 2019) have been used to successfully reduce signs and symptoms of dry eye disease (DED).

Article Dry Eye-Associated Visual Disturbance A middle-aged female presented to our practice with complaints of intermittent blurring, especially when reading or after blinking. Her best-corrected visual acuity was 20/20 OU, but at times, particularly after blinking, it was 20/30. Her tear meniscus was 0.5mm, and fluorescein staining revealed scattered punctate keratitis and very rapid breakup of the tear film.

Article Follicular Conjunctivitis This photo shows an excellent example of follicular conjunctivitis. This individual presented with a recent history of unilateral ocular irritation and injection that eventually became bilateral. He complained of mild photophobia and discomfort. Palpation of his preauricular nodes revealed moderate tenderness. In addition to the obvious follicular changes, he had grade 1 corneal fluorescein staining. Our initial diagnosis was bilateral follicular conjunctivitis.
