Georgia weather forecast calls for daily storms and heavy rain all week

A stretch of wet, humid weather will keep rain in the forecast across North and Central Georgia all week, with scattered downpours and the risk of localized flooding continuing into the weekend. On Wednesday morning, radar showed pockets of heavy rain already developing across parts of the metro, including from Johns Creek to Norcross and Tucker, where intense bursts of rainfall could drop a couple of inches in about an hour.

More rain, flash flooding expected in metro Atlanta during Memorial Day weekend

The CBS News Atlanta NEXT Weather team has issued a NEXT Weather Alert for the holiday weekend. Increasing rain chances will impact North Georgia and metro Atlanta for Memorial Day. After a day of flooding in downtown Atlanta and at the I-75/I-85 connector during rush-hour traffic, more rain is expected.

Flood Watch issued for Atlanta, North Georgia: tornadoes and damaging winds possible overnight Wednesday

Wednesday and Thursday are both NEXT Weather alert days as CBS Atlanta's Next Weather team tracks the risk of severe storms across Georgia. The main threats will be strong, damaging winds, flooding, and the possibility of rotating storms that could lead to tornadoes. There is currently a Flood Watch in effect for all of Atlanta, Metro, and most of North Georgia between 4 p.m. on Wednesday and 8 a.m. on Thursday.
