Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. As an elementary school student I did use a typewriter. I even used one in college as a work study student for the dean.
How is social media changing news?
Social media drives news stories and topics. I think more "under-reported" stories are able to surface thanks to social media.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Emails work great. Phone calls can be a little surprising, but they'll definitely grab my attention.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Twitter is indispensable, but even Facebook can be useful to see what people are sharing and talking about.
Why did you become a journalist?
I loved telling stories and exploring topics that expanded my view of the world. I wanted to share that with others around the globe.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I worked for my high school yearbook and I was the managing editor.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Always ask for the interview; always ask the question - don't let your own insecurities or doubts prohibit your reporting.
