I am a freshman undergraduate student at the University of South Dakota (USD) majoring in Media and Journalism and English with a minor in Philosophy. My career interests include journalism, media production, and video production. I am interested in all subjects of media coverage including news, sports, politics, technology, science, and entertainment.
So far in my freshman year at USD I am a reporter for the university newspaper "The Volante," a member of the "Coyote Creative: In House Advertising Agency," in the "USD Honors Program," a member of the "Vermillion Community Writers Group," and a freelance opinion writer. I have also been awarded the "Allen Neuharth Excellence in Journalism Scholarship" and recognized as a "Neuharth Scholar" at USD. In addition, I am a member of USD’s cross country and track & field teams.
My contributions to these programs include: 2-3 News, Sports, and/or Entertainment articles per week in "The Volante," video and commercial production for "Coyote Creative: In House Advertising Agency," high level classes and extracurricular activities for the "USD Honors Program," bi-weekly poems and creative writing for the "Vermillion Community Writers Group," and weekly opinion articles on various news outlets.
Before USD, I attended Lincoln Southwest (LSW) High School in Lincoln, NE and got involved in journalism and media my senior year. Experience and skills I gained at LSW included writing opinion and news articles, academic writing, social media production, photography, graphic design, and video production.
