Dan Tynan was writing about technology long before the word 'Google' became a verb. He has published literally thousands of stories, most of which neither he nor anyone else can remember.
He is currently proprietor and major domo of an almost popular blog now hosted on Beehiiv called The Tynan Files (https://tynanfiles.beehiiv.com/).
Tynan's work has appeared in 100+ publications, including Adweek, CIO.com, C|Net, Consumer Reports, Fast Company, the Guardian, Men's Health, Newsweek, Parade, Playboy.com, Popular Science, Wired, Women's Health, and many more you've never heard of. He also writes for a wide range of private companies, most of which you have heard of.
In a previous life, Tynan was Editor in Chief of Yahoo Tech, David Pogue's technology news site, now part of Verizon's Oath (oops, not any more. Who owns Yahoo now? I can't keep track.)
For more than 20 years Tynan was a regular contributor to Family Circle magazine, where he wrote about the intersection of families and technology, until that 87-year-old publication crossed the Stygian darkness in 2019.
At various times in his career he was also a) contributing editor at PCworld and InfoWorld, b) columnist for C|NET and US Airways magazine, and c) author of the Thank You For Not Sharing privacy blog for ITworld, beloved by tens of readers.
He has appeared on national television (ABC, CNN, CBS, PBS) and been quoted in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. He wrote a book on computers and privacy for O'Reilly Media that was purchased by as many as 17 people, not including immediate family members.
Tynan is a two-time finalist for a National Magazine Award and has a closet full of other trophies and medals from the American Business Press, American Society of Business Press Editors, Western Publications Association, Folio, and others he has forgotten about entirely.
