Nine former university vice-chancellors condemned the R500 million arson damage at University of Fort Hare and express unwavering support for Vice-Chancellor Prof Sakhela Buhlungu, calling for state protection and prosecutions while warning that yielding to violent intimidation would undermine anti-corruption efforts and set a dangerous precedent for the rule of law at South African universities.
Stress to stability: Sense of coherence as a buffer against pandemic-related psychological distress
Background: Identifying protective factors in mental health-related outcomes is crucial, offering insights into the vulnerabilities and strengths individuals harness against psychological distress. A Meta-Analysis of the Relationship Between Problem-Solving Appraisal as Assessed by the Problem Solving Inventory and Suicide Ideation
Abstract Suicide is a significant public health concern globally, and deficits in problem-solving ability have been identified as an important risk factor for suicide. To me, hope is a powerful emotion, a mighty tool that gives rise to greatness; it affects change and sparks power. Now is not the time to give up on hope.
