Intratumoral administration of plant virus nanoparticles, cowpea mosaic virus (CPMV), for in situ vaccination (ISV) is an effective cancer immunotherapy. CPMV ISV induces a durable, targeted, systemic anti-tumor immune response, which can be further enhanced with OX40 agonistic antibody (aOX40), a T cell co-stimulator. While CPMV is noninfectious to mammals, it is hazardous to some plants and could present environmental concerns.
