1 Introduction Duplex stainless steels (DSSs) are Fe–Cr–Ni alloys consisting of ferrite and austenite phases with about 50%–50% ratio [1, 2]. Due to the synergistic effect between these two phases, DSS alloys exhibit higher toughness and better weldability than ferritic stainless steels, as well as higher mechanical strength and better corrosion resistance than austenitic ones [1, 2].
