Two taken into custody for murder of Border Patrol agent

Two men are in custody following the death of an off-duty Border Patrol agent who was killed during a botched robbery. Both men are being questioned in the death of off-duty Border Patrol agent Javier Vega, Jr. near the rural community of Santa Monica. The off-duty agent, his father, mother wife and children were reportedly fishing when the suspects arrived and tried to rob them around 8 p.m. Sunday. The Border Patrol agent from Kingsville was visting family in the Rio Grande Valley.

Bonds set for murder suspects, others connected to Gamehaus shooting

Four suspects in the popular McAllen bar shooting appeared before a judge today. Manual Sanchez Jr., the alleged triggerman behind the Gamehaus Gastropub shooting, was charged with murder and two counts of criminal attempted murder. His bond was set at $800,000 for all three charges combined. Richard Arrispe who is also connected to the deadly shooting was charged with murder, possession of marijuana and two counts of criminal attempted murder. Arrispe’s bond was set at $775,000.
