Abstract Catalytic distillation is an integrated process that couples heterogeneous catalysis, reaction kinetics, and mass transfer phenomena within a distillation environment to promote the selective formation of target products. In this study, a heavy oil sample (API = 20.2) was subjected to atmospheric catalytic distillation in the presence of an AlSBA-15 catalyst, using a distillation assembly positioned inside a temperature-controlled furnace.
