Digital positive affect intervention (PAI) versus self-monitoring placebo in the treatment of anxiety and depression: a two-arm randomized controlled trial (RCT) | BMC Psychiatry | Full Text
Details about this trial are captured in the SPIRIT (Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials) checklist [54, 55] in Appendix A of the online supplemental materials (OSM) and Fig. 1. This study is a two-arm, parallel-group RCT that aims to test the efficacy of Digital PAI relative to a Self-Monitoring Placebo control in adults with mild-to-moderately severe anxiety or depression.

Data from: A call in the dark: Nocturnal flight calls and their potential to advance the study of avian migration
Methods Data for Figure 1 (The number of peer-reviewed publications using nocturnal flight call monitoring to address ecological, behavioral, or methodological questions by year from (a) 1899 to 2024 and, (b) 1999 to 2024), were generated using the Web of Science online database with the search term "nocturnal flight call AND bird". The search was conducted on June 25th, 2024. All titles and abstracts were screened to ensure the relevance of included articles.
Evaluation of methods to estimate nocturnal bird migration activity: C comparison of radar and nocturnal flight call monitoring in the American West
Bird migration involves the movements of billions of individuals but is difficult to study because it occurs primarily at night. We sought to improve understanding of the methods available to study migration, particularly in understudied regions of western North America. We evaluated two methods: weather radar and nocturnal flight call monitoring.
Utterance-Final Voice Quality in American English and Mexican Spanish Bilinguals
1. Introduction The ends of phrases and utterances, before the speaker takes a breath, are associated with many changes in phonation. For example, f0 declination, pitch lowering over the course of an utterance (or utterance-medial phrase), is commonly observed across languages (Ladd 2001). Here we focus on another type of change in phonation that commonly occurs utterance-finally—a change in the quality of phonation.
Heavy migration traffic and bad weather are a dangerous combination: Bird collisions in New York City
Published January 9, 2024 | Version v1 Dataset Open Bird-building collisions account for 365-988 million bird fatalities every year in the United States alone. Understanding conditions that heighten collision risk is critical to developing effective strategies for reducing this source of anthropogenic bird mortality. Meteorological factors and regional migration traffic may influence collision rates but also may be difficult to disentangle from other effects.
Magnolia Warbler (Setophaga magnolia) flight calls demonstrate individuality and variation by season and recording location
Published November 28, 2023 | Version v1 Dataset Open Flight calls are short vocalizations frequently associated with migratory behavior that may maintain group structure, signal individual identity, and facilitate intra- and interspecific communication.
Structural genomic variation and migratory behavior in a wild songbird
Structural variants (SVs) include duplications, deletions, transpositions, and inversions. Existing research suggests that these variants represent a major source of genetic variation and could have important fitness consequences (Collins et al., 2020; Cridland et al., 2013; Qin et al., 2021).
Effects of prenatal alcohol exposition on cognitive outcomes in childhood and youth: a longitudinal analysis based on meconium ethyl glucuronide
European Archives of Psychiatry and Clinical Neuroscience, Aug 2023 Prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) has been linked to severe, adverse child outcomes. However, little is known regarding subclinical outcomes of low/moderate PAE and its longitudinal consequences, especially regarding neurophysiological and neurocognitive development. A newborn biomarker of PAE, meconium ethyl glucuronide (EtG), has been shown to predict cognitive impairments in primary-school-aged children.
A subchronic history of binge-drinking elicits mild, age- and sex-selective, affective, and cognitive anomalies in C57BL/6J mice
Introduction One of the most common risk factors for the development of dementia and cognitive decline is a history of alcohol abuse (Schwarzinger et al., 2018; Nunes et al., 2019; Wiegmann et al., 2020). Numerous studies have identified that both alcohol use disorder (AUD) and dementia, particularly Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), have a high incidence of cooccurrence (Hersi et al., 2017; Hoffman et al., 2019).

Pull-through Tests on OSB and Gypsum Board
Abstract The objective of this report is to provide pull-through stiffness and capacity for common fasteners used in cold-formed steel attached to oriented strand board or gypsum. A total of 35 tests were conducted at dry, humid, and normal conditions for the sheathing. The tests, which were conducted in uniaxial tension, attach the actuator to the tip of a screw and pull the fastener head through a 4 in. x 4 in. board of sheathing supported by a stiff HSS tube with a circular opening 2 in.

A CRISPR-Cas9 gene drive targeting doublesex causes complete population suppression in caged Anopheles gambiae mosquitoes
Abstract In the human malaria vector Anopheles gambiae, the gene doublesex (Agdsx) encodes two alternatively spliced transcripts, dsx-female (AgdsxF) and dsx-male (AgdsxM), that control differentiation of the two sexes. The female transcript, unlike the male, contains an exon (exon 5) whose sequence is highly conserved in all Anopheles mosquitoes so far analyzed.
