SDS-EDTA-treated chromatography paper strips for sampling and transportation of monkeypox virus, varicella zoster virus and herpes simplex 1 and 2 viruses | Virology Journal | Full Text
Paper strips were prepared as previously described [4]. Briefly, Whatman grade 17 Chr pure cellulose chromatography paper with a thickness of 0.92 mm, a high absorbency of 870 g water/m2 and a linear flow rate of 190 mm/30 min was used (Cytiva Whatman, Kent, UK). The chromatography paper was cut into strips of 80 mm x 4 mm, while wearing disposable gloves to prevent contamination.

The data used in this study were obtained from patients presenting with a respiratory infection at the University Hospitals of Leuven (UZL) during 8 consecutive epidemic seasons (2011–2012 until 2018–2019), where they were tested for infection with HRSV. Samples that tested positive for HRSV, using lab developed duplex or multiplex real time PCR assays at the UZL Centre for Molecular Diagnostics (CEMOL), were further subtyped by subtype-specific real-time PCR assays.
