(Cost-)effectiveness and implementation of a combined lifestyle intervention for outpatients with severe mental illness (GOAL!): a hybrid quasi-experimental study protocol | BMC Psychiatry | Full Text
This is a type 1 hybrid quasi-experimental study with a mixed-method matched design. This design allows for the assessment of the effectiveness of GOAL! on health-related outcomes while collecting and analyzing implementation data [41]. An intervention group (N = 50) will be compared with a control group (N = 50) who continue to receive care as usual and are matched by demographic characteristics.
Normobaric hypoxia shows enhanced FOXO1 signaling in obese mouse gastrocnemius muscle linked to metabolism and muscle structure and neuromuscular innervation (pdf) | Paperity
Pflügers Archiv - European Journal of Physiology, Sep 2023 Skeletal muscle relies on mitochondria for sustainable ATP production, which may be impacted by reduced oxygen availability (hypoxia). Compared with long-term hypoxia, the mechanistic in vivo response to acute hypoxia remains elusive. Therefore, we aimed to provide an integrated description of the Musculus gastrocnemius response to acute hypoxia.
A comparison of passive and active dust sampling methods for measuring airborne methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in pig farms
Abstract Methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are resistant to most β-lactam antibiotics. Pigs are an important reservoir of livestock-associated MRSA (LA-MRSA), which is genetically distinct from both hospital and community-acquired MRSA. Occupational exposure to pigs on farms can lead to LA-MRSA carriage by workers. There is a growing body of research on MRSA found in the farm environment, the airborne route of transmission, and its implication on human health.
Health relevance of lowering postprandial glycaemia in the paediatric population through diet’: results from a multistakeholder workshop - European Journal of Nutrition
Evert van Schothorst: early-life and nutritional programming in mice: role of carbohydrates The process of nutritional programming by which nutrition in early life during pregnancy, lactation, weaning and early post-weaning, exerts permanent effects upon the developing foetus, providing windows of opportunities to combat metabolic diseases in adulthood [16, 17].
