Comparing Faculty Attitudes Toward Self-Use and Student-Use of AI Technologies in Higher Education

Abstract This study investigates university faculty perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI), comparing their attitudes toward personal use versus student use. In a randomized between-subjects experiment, 240 faculty from Greek public universities evaluated AI-use items framed either for themselves or for students. Faculty reported significantly higher perceived Right to use AI and greater Support for AI adoption when evaluating self-use than when evaluating student use.
