Robert Cortinas says the debate about whether the coming Meta data center complex is good or bad for El Paso is overlooking the huge financial benefit it will have on city coffers. “I don’t think the average El Pasoan realizes about the property tax revenue that’s going to come through in this deal,” said Cortinas, the city of El Paso's chief financial officer. Meta Plaforms, operator of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, will become the city’s largest property taxpayer, Cortinas said.
