1 Introduction Young-onset dementia (YOD) is the term used when dementia is diagnosed for people under 65 years of age. According to Dementia Australia, around 10% of dementia diagnoses fall in this age bracket so, while rare compared to dementia in people over 65 years, the numbers are still significant. The global prevalence is around 119 people per 100,000 population aged 30-64 years, which is approximately 3.9 million cases across the world [1], with around 29,000 in Australia [2, 3].
